There are a lot of historical places in bangladesh.Among them some are note worthy.They uphold the culture and tradition of country.They also play a vital role to depict the picture of our liberation war as well as our freedom fighters.These places are scattered throughout the whole country.Now i will give a vivid description of the historical places according to our districts.

The historical places of Rajshahi

The name of Paharpur has taken from a high mound that looked like pahar or hillock.Paharpur is considered as the Largest Buddhist Seat of Learning in South Asia. It is a small village in Rajshahi.It is about 5 km west of Jamalganj in the Rajshahi district. There remains of the most important and the largest known monastery south of the Himalayas. An area covering about 11 hectare was found by the 7th century AD archaeologist. It is a quadrangular court measuring above 900 ft. The entire establishment is like a Quadrangular court and it measures more than 300 meters which varies from 3.5 to 4.5 meters in height .It also has an elaborate gateway complex on the north. In the north side there are 45 cells and 44 cells in each of the other three sides, with an entire number of 177 rooms. The architectural beauty of Paharpur influences the people of Mayanmar and Java.

The historical places of Sylhet

Sylet is Situated in the north-eastern part of Bangladesh.It has great attraction for the tourists.There are abundant historical places in Sylet.It was ruled by local chieftains before the conquest by the Muslims. May be it was the time in 1303, the great Saint Hazrat Shah Jalal came to Sylhet from Delhi with a group of 360 disciples so that they could  preach Islam and they defeated the then Raja Gour Gobinda. Thus Sylhet became a district of saints, shrines. Sylhet is the tea granary of Bangladesh.It has more than 150 tea gardens. It also proudly possesses three largest tea gardens in the world.

The historical places of Comilla


Comilla is one of the most remarkable districts in bangladesh.It is famous for lots of historical and archeological beauty which uphold the reigns of our kings . These are many hillocks. The Northern part is called Moinamoti and the Southern part is called Lalmai by people. And Shalbon Bihar is in the Middle of Lalmai and Moinamoti that was established in 8th century by King Buddadev. Salban Vihara. Almost in the center of the Mainarnati-Lalmai hill range consists of 115 cells and built around an open courtyard with cruciform temple that is in the centre facing its only gateway complex to the north resembling that of the Paharpur Monastery.

The historical places of Dhaka


Dhaka is the capital of bangladesh.It has lots of famous forts and places which bear the testimony of our traditional history.Among all other forts,'Lalbag Ar Kalla' is remarkable to describe. Lal indicates "red" that is why, this is well-known also as the Red Fort in Dhaka. The Fort represents as a sign of the Mughals' increasing power in Bengal during the late 17th century. That Construction began under the direction of Prince Muhammad Azam in 1678.  He didn't finish it as he was sent to another post. Ten years later, Shaista Khan also didn't complete it. There was malaria broke out and his two daughters died from it so he fled away from the region and didn't complete the intended construction. The foundation includes the Mausoleum of the two girls. In accordance with early illustrations of the fort, the Buriganga River flowed right in front of the southern gate. Today there are three main buildings on the site. And the fort has been restored. Now it is the most popular place for young couples who like to picnic on the lawn of the fort.





The historical places of chittagong

Chittagong is a land of history.there are lots of historical places in chittagong and the war cemetery is one of them.The War Cemetery situated on Badshah Mia Road is a place of historic interest. There are graves of 755 soldiers of the Allied Forces who laid down their lives during World War II. Most of the soldiers which were buried there were from Australia, Britain, Canada, East and West Africa, British India and New Zealand. The whole area of the cemetery is eight acres and it is preserved and maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The expense of maintaining the cemetery is done by a british organization.It is a restricted area.NO one can enter any time there.people can enter from 10.00 to1.30 p.m and 2.00 to 5.00pm.All of you are invited to watch the calm and quiet beauty of The  War Cemetery
